The aim of the research was to develop and validate a lifecycle construction waste minimisation framework for healthcare facilities (HCWMF). The research
• provided a novel lifecycle approach to reduce construction waste generation in healthcare projects from the planning to construction and renovation stages;
• identified causes and origins of waste particular to healthcare facilities throughout all project life cycle stages;
• identified complex functional and operational features in healthcare facilities that effect construction waste generation and assessed their relationship with waste causes and origins; and
• proposed several measures to address construction waste causes and origins in the construction and renovation of healthcare facilities.
